Collaborative learning A training program in which you work with your dog, collaborating. The dog actively participates; both owner and dog share the learning journey, contributing equally to the development of new skills for on another. They will be different exercises that help the dog learn to let itself be handled and touched while feeling safe, maintaining control of the situation and without constraint. For example: at the end of the course, a dog will give his full consent to be muzzled, he will let the owner brush him, clean his ears, examine his eyes, touch his paws, etc. Collaborative learning differs from from the concept of positive reinforcement based on commands and rewards. Here we give the dog information rather than commands, and the emphasis is on the sense of security, predictability, and freedom of choice. This approach strengthens the relationship between owner and dog because, since there are no commands, it's always the dog who gives us permission to continue or asks us to stop. This is what creates a sense of security, because the dog knows what to expect. Since it is scientifically recognized that dogs are sentient and social mammals, subject to emotions and fears just like us (humans), working with this fully collaborative approach helps us solve much more than just handling problems. It takes time and patience, but the results are astonishing. The dog learns to trust his owner, and the owner learns to listen to the dog, respect his pace, and release the pressure of expectations. Then in 2011 I became god-mother to Melo, a black labrador that Céline rescued. That's how it all started, our lives crossed over on and off until late 2019, when our passion for dogs culminated in a real mentor-mentee relationship. Céline, with her 30+ years of experience in dog education and dog behavior, started coaching me and my dog-journey began. After one year of assisting Céline in private and group lessons, and taking Dog Education and Nutrition courses, we are now working together. Cecilia Dobner About me For the first 20 years of my working life I worked in IT, and I was lucky enough to have my dogs accompany me everywhere: at work, at my friends' houses, at restaurants, on holiday, etc. Then one day everything changed. Thanks to my younger sister, I met and adopted Blue, a dog from Italy. Blue is a very sensitive dog, which in the canine training world is often labelled as a "difficult dog", so I had to change my approach. I had to be prepared to adapt to him and his needs and I would no longer be able to take my dog everywhere. However... ...Blue introduced me to a new way of living the canine world, a world that is unconventional and not at all predictable. In order to better understand his language, I had to learn to take the time to observe him with all my senses, without trying to change him, living the present moment. This more attentive reading of dogs' behavior allowed me to discover a world full of emotions, the dogs' of course, but especially mine! With Blue, I continually learn and relearn to slow down, to come back to the "here and now" and to connect with my emotions before reacting. Throughout these years, following different courses, I obtained the certification of canine instructor in Switzerland and Italy. I continue to follow webinars and seminars focusing on emotions and trauma. One of the keys to helping a dog in difficulty is in fact recognising the emotions behind its behavior, and those behind its owner's. Since I started working with dogs, I have given individual and group courses, as well as the mandatory course in the canton of Neuchâtel, but as I move forward, I feel like I am moving away from the concept of courses. There are certainly several activities that I teach to my human and canine clients. However, my goal is rather to accompany the "guardians" to shift their mindset and find a way of living with their dogs more as equals. This is why I pay so much attention to communication. In addition to working on treating the dog, I introduce a completely different approach to dog training. Fitness and proprioception Through games, tricks and obedience, we explore the physical side of dogs. We help them discover their bodies and the space they occupy. We work on balance and flexibility. L'enjeu majeur de la vie avec mon chien est aussi celle de ma vie avec moi-même et avec les autres, c'est d'apprendre à être là. Apprendre à être présente avec lui et à ce qui se passe autour de nous et en nous. D'autant plus que lui, il est toujours là dans le présent. Utile pour ma vie avec le chien et utile pour moi, pour mon équilibre et harmonie personnelle. Cela peut paraître cliché et paroles de développement personnel ou emcore guide spirituel, mais non, c'est tellement logique, quitter le téléphone, WhatsApp et les idées des 1000 choses qu'il reste à faire avant la fin de la journée (la fin du monde aussi parfois), cela permet autant que possible d'anticiper des situations, d'éviter de mauvaises rencontres. Et accessoirement s'émerveiller du paysage et du moment privilégié de balade dans la forêt ou autre. C'est la première chose que j'ai entendue de Cécilia au début du cours théorique obligatoire pour nouveau propriétaire de chien. Elle m'est restée en filigrane durant les cours et continuera de l'être. Active walks À propos de moi Pendant plus de 20 ans, j'ai travaillé dans le monde de l'informatique, et j'ai eu la chance d'avoir des chiens m'accompagnaient partout, au travail, chez mes amis, au restaurant, en vacances, dans mes hobbies. Puis un jour, tout a changé. Grâce à ma petite sœur, j'ai rencontré et ensuite adopté Blue, un chien d’Italie. Blue est un chien très sensible, que dans le monde de l'éducation canine on appelle « chien difficile», et c'est pour cette raison que j'ai dû changer mon approche, et accepter que avec lui il faut d'abord que ça soit moi qui m'adapte à lui et que je ne peux plus prendre mon chien partout, mais... ...Blue m'a fait découvrir un monde des chiens différent, plein de surprise et qui doit être continuellement réinventé. J’ai dû apprendre à prendre le temps de l’observer avec tous mes sens, sans chercher à le changer, dans le moment présent, pour mieux saisir son langage. Cette lecture plus fine du comportement des chiens m’a permis de découvrir un monde plein d’émotions les leurs, bien sûr, mais surtout les miennes ! Avec Blue, j’apprends et réapprends continuellement à ralentir, à revenir à « ici et maintenant », à me connecter avec mes émotions, avant de réagir. Pendant tous ces années, en suivant différentes formations, j'ai obtenu la certification d'instructeur canin en Suisse et en Italie. Je continue à suivre plein des webinaires et des séminaires, et je me spécialise avec une attention particulière pour les émotions et les traumatismes. Une des clées pour aider un chien en difficulté est exactement de reconnaître les émotions qui sont derrière ses comportements, et celles qui sont derrière celle de son propriétaires. Depuis que j'ai commencé à travailler avec les chiens, j'ai donné des cours privées, en groupe ainsi que les cours obligatoires sur le canton de Neuchâtel, mais plus je vais en avant et plus j'ai l'impression de m'éloigner du concept des cours. Il y a bien sûr plusieurs activités que j'apprends à mes clients, humains et canidés. Toutefois mon but est plutôt d'accompagner les « gardiens » des chiens à trouver les moyens pour vivre avec leurs compagnons sur une approche plus égalitaire. C'est pour ça que je mets beaucoup d'attention sur la communication. Pendant mes « cours » je donne des clés pour aider à mieux comprendre ce que le chien dit et à mieux se faire comprendre, car avec un dialogue on pourra faire face à toutes difficultés : tire en laisse, réactivité, fugues, destructions, etc. Les séances Quoi Je propose des expériences à vivre avec vos chiens et je vous guide en tant que mediatrice. On travaille sur l'équilibre et la souplesse. Soins cooperatifs Soigner nos chiens avec leur collaboration n’est qu’une partie de ce que j’enseigne dans cette formation. En plus des manipulation, je revois toute l'approche de l'apprentissage chez le chien. Promenades activés Des promenades privées ou en petit groupe, dans des environnements diversifiés avec toutes sortes de stimuli, afin de voir ensemble comment bien gérer toutes sortes des situations. Vivre avec un chien Quand un nouveau chien arrive chez vous... je vous accompagne à créer les bases pour une relation de confiance et de respect. Je donne des conseils alimentaires. On travaille l'éducation de base pour la nouvelle unité familiale. Balades pour chiens Service à domicile : le chien est promené pendant vos absences ou si vous n'avez pas le temps. Mantrailing Mantrailing is an activity where your dog will learn to search for a missing person by following their scent on a trail. This "treasure hunt" can be done anywhere: forest, countryside or city, and it is an activity that can be offered to all breeds and kinds of dogs of all ages. No special requirements, no particular experience is required, neither for you nor for your dog. This is one of the few activities where we humans dive into the dog's world - they are the experts here, we just need to learn to trust them and help them trust themselves! Equipement Required Long line between 6m and 10m Harness (Y or H shaped) Treats (good ones) Objects with your scent (to act as a missing person for others) Recommended Backpack Toy Notebook for tracking progress The Mantrailing smartphone app How does it work? We work with one dog at a time. While the others are working, your dog will spend some time in your car; so it's a good idea to plan a walk before training, but make sure you don't walk around the meeting area, so as not to leave your scent before we do the work Once there, we discuss the plan (in what order we work with the dogs), and we review the equipment If there are more than 3 of you, one person can stay near the cars with the dogs. Mantrailing is a great activity that really helps you discover your dog's abilities and helps you and your dog become a real team! During this activity you will strengthen your relationship and learn to read your dog better. If your dog has fears or phobias, this activity can really help him boost his confidence and resilience.

Active walks An active walk is an opportunity to live everyday experiences with my guidance to help you gain a better understanding of what your dog is telling you when faced with different events and how best to react. During these encounters we can organise many different activities. We do game-based training, teaching basic obedience, such as leash-walking, heel-walking, basic positions (sit, down, stand), recall. The aim is to share moments of learning so that the duo (dog and human) can reinforce their relationship (bonding) and complicity while learning something useful. When possible, we let the dogs interact. During these interactions we observe and analyse together what is taking place between the dogs so as to try and understand how the dogs are living the experience. This is pure observation with no judgement. Interactions Exercises with whatever the environment offers Leash-walking How When two or more people are interested, we will organise group walks according to participant's availability. Where Locations vary but mainly Engollon, Pierre-à-Bot, Les Fourches (above St-Blaise), and St. Blaise Port. Leash walking A workshop to discover how a walk with your dog on a leash can be a real sharing experience, and not a constraint or worse, a moment of conflict. During this workshop, you will learn ways to improve communication with your dog. You will live experiences that will teach you how to understand why a dog pulls or stops and no longer moves forward, and you will learn how to help the dog. Leash walks will turn into adventures for you and your dog, during which you will grow together, while strengthening your bond. For the practical part, groups will be formed based on the number of dog-owner pairs, with 2 to 4 pairs per group. If my dog has trouble staying alone in the car, can I stay with him? The goal is to avoid stress for the dogs. We will discuss each case individually, and I will do what is necessary to ensure everyone benefits as much as possible from the experience, without stress, fear, or anything else. Are there any other workshops already scheduled? The idea is to offer several workshops to progress together. Depending on demand, I will set other dates and publish them on social media. At the end of each workshop, there will be the opportunity to organize the next steps to move forward together by setting goals based on the wishes of each one.
